De Lijn: localisation of trams

To facilitate the inventory of trams at the E17 depot of Flemish transport company De Lijn, Aucxis developed an RFID location system and website offering a clear overview of all the trams located at the depot.

80 trams were equipped with RFID tags which were selected by Aucxis for this specific application. A passive RFID detection system records the in- and outgoing movements of the trams on two tracks. On the web portal the employees of De Lijn can see, in real time, how many trams are present at the depot, which trams specifically, on which track they are located and what are the dates and times of their entry and exit.

The solution implemented by Aucxis is simple, highly efficient and produces benefits in terms of time savings and preclusion of errors.
